Impact 25 WI and Rugby
Hampshire County Federation of Wis (HCFWI) has partnered with Havant Rugby Football Club (HRFC) for “Impact 25 WI and Rugby”
A launch event is planned to promote the partnership and encourage participation, on January 18th 2025. The aim is to encourage women to use rugby clubs, learn about the game and play.
Caroline a WI member says “As with any organization the WI has to look for ways to attract members and widen their knowledge and experience. Rugby has been excluded from many PE experiences, including mine. The rugby community nurtures talent, careers and motherhood and is not an exclusion . The sport demands fitness and training which some find more inclusive and engaging due to the team approach. We should take 2025 as an opportunity to celebrate women’s rugby locally and through support of the Rugby World Cup to be played in the UK.
Katrina, Chair of the HCFWI says “This is an excellent partnership for us that will encourage Hampshire WI members to engage in the joys of rugby, as supporters, players or even as coaches. It brings together a sport for people of all shapes and sizes with the WI an organization open to all women whatever their age or background. We look forward to developing a thriving and diverse community.
