South Wonston WI

South Wonston is a village situated about 4 miles north of Winchester on a chalk ridge overlooking beautiful countryside. Its population has grown to just over 2000 people of all ages and interests with many local clubs and societies. The WI meets in the Village Hall in Downs Road at 7.30pm, the first Monday in the month (apart from Bank Holiday Mondays when it is moved to the following week). We have a membership of around 32 and we are a lively, friendly group. Our members enjoy social activities throughout the year, not only at the meetings. Several of us moving in to the area have made good friends through the WI. We invite you to come and try us out - you will be made very welcome!

As you will see we offer a varied programme of speakers some of which are by our own talented experts/enthusiasts within the group covering a range of topics. We have introduced a regular Lunch Club, a monthly Newsletter, a craft group and a range of social outings throughout the year.
Between the monthly meetings members volunteer to hold coffee mornings, a legendary strawberry tea and scrabble evenings in their homes. Summer allows us to organise special outings, skittles tournaments and other competitions involving nearby WI's. There are plenty of opportunities to get actively involved throughout the year.

If you are interested in trying us out, just come along to a Monday meeting shown below.
