What does Solent Evening W.I. offer to women? |
![]() |
A very friendly and lively W.I. which meets in the evening to enable working women and mothers of young children to join. |
![]() |
Monthly meetings with opportunities to make and renew friendships. Every month we include time for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat. |
![]() |
Interesting talks and discussions on a wide range of subjects. |
![]() |
Extra activities, such as a guided walk each month, crafts and darts(and we always welcome new ideas for activities). We also enjoy outings to places as varied as the New Forest Show, theatre visits, cookery demonstrations and stately homes. |

Links with other W.I.s in local, county and national venues. We are one of 8 W.I.s in The Haven Group which is an informal grouping within The Hampshire Federation. Haven Group organises two group meetings and a Carol Service every year and arranges Group outings, both day visits and longer stays. Haven Group meetings provide the opportunity to book speakers or demonstrators who are beyond the means of an individual W.I. Haven Group also forms the first competitive stage in County competitions, such as Bowls, Skittles, Darts and Quizzes, all of which we enjoy. |

Membership of the W.I. offers so many varied opportunities: |

We discuss matters of local and national importance and have our views put to the government, via the W.I. |
![]() |
We receive information about County courses covering every imaginable subject, sport, hobby and craft. |
![]() |
A chance to win a Solent Evening Bursary for a course at Denman, the W.I. National College where there even more options for learning and enjoying new skills, among friendly fellow-members. |
