Martin and Damerham W.I.

All about us!

Our W.I. is an amalgam of two older Institutes - believe it or not, in Martin and
Damerham. One or other of us has been going since the 1920s, but we
combined a long time ago now, and hope that there is no rivalry between the
Village factions!

We are a small, friendly Institute, based on a very strong community. There is
always lots for us to do, in all kinds of ways: We are regarded as the Jumble
Sale queens, and turn out for every one that the Villages run, and are to be
seen at all the local events. It`s a lovely area to live in.

We would always like to see new members, and have the perpetual cry,
"Especially the Younger Ones" - but anyone who comes to our meetings is sure
of a warm welcome.

One of our innovations - perhaps because of the strong Community Spirit here -
is to open those meetings with a wider, popular appeal, to everyone, dreaded
husbands and all. This has been a big success, and each time we do it, more
heads appear round the door. Perhaps this might be one way to recruit more
members in the long run - or is it time to make an Honorary Membership for
men?

Our meetings are held at 7.30pm, mostly at Damerham Village Hall at 7.30pm -
but if you are planning to visit, please give our President a call to confirm the
time and place. She is Cathy Godber, tel. 01725 518350
