Information about us and Lovedean
Lovedean WI was founded in 1957 and during our 50th anniversary last year we aimed to have 50 members. We actually now have nearer 60 including dual members. We meet in the Lovedean Village Hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm.
Most of our activities are in the evening but we offer a varied programme both of speakers and events. Craft evenings are held during the winter and walks in the summer. Outings, theatre trips and attendance at County events are arranged, as are jumble sales, dinners, garden visits and a summer cream tea.
New members, visitors and ideas are made very welcome. Please contact our President or Secretary for more information. If you find it difficult to come on your own, a member will always be pleased to meet and come with you.
We were delighted to receive a grant from Awards for All which will enable several of our members to attend Denman College on residential courses, day schools and workshops.

About Lovedean
At the extremes of the village are two Public Houses, the recently refurbished Green Dragon borders Cowplain, and The Bird in Hand is on the Clanfield border.
The Bird in Hand was a landmark in the 1800s, with its quaint thatched roof, it was used as the local baker's shop and greengrocers. In the 1880's it began to sell beer and eventually became a public house. It still stands on the same grounds but has a more recent half-timbered front and tiled roof.
Lovedean Lane has a variety of dwellings, from 17th century thatched cottages to modern houses.
The New Bethesda Mission was built in 1991, the old building which started life as the blacksmith's shop, suffered badly in the storms of 1987.
The Lovedean Village Hall, opened in March 1957 has two halls with excellent facilities having been recently modernised with new kitchens etc.
