This is our programme for 2008.
|
14 January - Craft evening. We 'had a go' at decoupage, i.e. covering boxes with paper cut outs, and some very desirable items were made.
11 February - Betty's memoirs. Lindford WI member, Betty, gave us a fascinating account of living in Nyasaland (now Malawi)in the late 1940s.
10 March - Hearing dogs for deaf people. A very interesting talk from a hearing dog 'socialiser' who trains puppies until they are taken for full training as hearing dogs for deaf people, alerting them to the phone or door bell ringing, the cooker timer, smoke alarm, etc., plus a puppy in training - an adorable Papillon cross who at 6 months was already very obedient.
14 April - Flower arranging. Local WI member Eve Howard gave us another of her brilliant demonstrations.
19 May - Resolutions/birthday meeting. The President's husband made a superb birthday cake for us which we enjoyed after debating this year's resolutions, playing three rounds of 'Call My Bluff' and listening to a ghost story.
9 June - Auction. Bidding for items which members brought along gave us a lot of fun, and many went home with some real bargains, whilst our funds were boosted.
14 July - Garden party. We enjoyed a warm if not particularly sunny evening in a member's lovely garden, with delicious refreshments and a good chance for a 'natter'.
11 August - Talk and slides on The Hebrides. An excellent presentation about a beautiful and interesting area of the British Isles.
8 September - A welcome visit from one of Lindford's Police Community Support Officers who told us what he gets up to 'on the beat'.
13 October - East Hampshire District Council Social Justice film. An interesting presentation by an EHDC representative detailing the many housing services available to residents of this area.
10 November - Annual meeting.
8 December - Christmas celebrations - we're going out for a meal!
