VISITORS AND NEW MEMBERS VERY WELCOME

IN AUGUST WE WILL BE 'OUT AND ABOUT' TO JANE AUSTEN'S HOUSE - NO MEETING AT BLENDWORTH CHURCH HALL THAT MONTH
IN JULY JEAN JOHNSON IS JOINING US TO GIVE A FLORAL DEMONSTRATION WHICH SHOULD BE VERY INTERESTING.
LAST MONTH OUR WI SENT 36 CAKES AND FLAPJACKS TO 1310 SQUADRON IN AFGHANISTAN,WHICH THE MEN AND WOMEN ALL ENJOY VERY MUCH

We have a busy and active group of over 70 members, all of whom enjoy getting together once a month always with a cup of tea, homemade cakes and lots of friendly chat and laughter.Our meetings are varied,sometimes we have a speaker and sometimes we make our own entertainment. We have a raffle, a homemade
card stall, a book table,some months a craft stall and from March to September a Flower of the Month Competition. Please have a look at our interesting programme listed below to see the meetings we have lined up for 2010.
We meet on the second Tuesday of the month from 2-4pm in Blendworth Church Hall, Blendworth Lane, Horndean PO8 0AA
We welcome ladies of all ages - come along one month, introduce yourself to any member as a visitor and we will make sure you are well looked after. Disabled facilities are available.
We also have other activities throughout the year including theatre trips and to visits to places of interest.At the end of May we went to Exbury Gardens to see their wonderful rhodedendrons and azealeas. In June we held light Summer Lunch followed by a Beetle Drive.
Several times a year we make cakes which are sent to 1310 RAF Squadron Chinooks in Afghanistan, which helps to raise their morale.
We have a Craft Group that meets every Wednesday morning from 10-12 at
Napier Hall, Portsmouth Road, Horndean.
Members crafts range from knitting,beading, card making, embroidery etc. We knit jumpers for children in Zimbabwe and Lesotho, clothes for the local premature baby
unit and hats for Seamen. Occasionally we have demonstrationse.g. painting ceramic bowls - great fun.
If you are interested in Produce we have a group that meets on the Monday after the main meeting and then tries out various hostelries for lunch.
We have a link with Durham WI in the Taranaki area of New Zealand - we exchange letters, cards and ideas.
