Fordingbridge

We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month at 14.30 hrs. at Avonway Community Centre.
One of two Institutes in the Town we have a lively and active membership. Besides our programme of speakers there are many activities of an extra curricular nature. Monthly walks are arranged mainly in the nearby New Forest with a convivial lunch following the exertions. Fordingbridge has an active craft group and enters the New Forest Show tent competitions each year. Jenny Brown leads our team of craftswomen and also runs a Knit Wits club,knitting for the needy. As you can see we are a diverse group and welcome prospective members and visitors with pleasure. We now look forward to 2008 with a new President in the Chair. Joyce Goldsmith is an experienced member who has held office in the past and will lead us through the months to come. Our new programme starts with a talk on the Duties of a Town clerkgiven by our own Fordingbridge holder of this office. Other talks include many diverse subjects in order to appeal to a wide audience. The discussion gruop next considers "Language" in March. This year we celebrate our Sixtieth Birthday.
