Burridge & Park Gate WI

Spring has sprung and Burridge and Park Gate WI is warming up to take full advantage of the new season. We could be just the type of WI you are looking for. We currently have 45 members from the local area and are are an active group always looking for a new challenge, and new members. We can do 'Jam and Jerusalem' but we do so much more! Our speciality is making people feel welcome and involved from the very beginning, our WI is your WI.
We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month (excepting July) at St Margaret Mary Hall, Middle Road, Park Gate from 7.15pm. Our meetings are always lively with a wide range of speakers, demonstrations and hands on activities throughout the year. We welcome visitors to all of our meetings; it costs nothing to come along as a visitor so why not give us a try? If you let us know you are coming we will arrange for somebody to meet you at the door and guide you through the meeting, but if you want to come along as a quiet observer the first time that is fine too.
In addition to our monthly meetings we get involved in a wide range of activities: drama, craft, walking, mah-jong, darts, skittles, trips, fundraising and social events throughout the year as well as local and national WI Campaigns. And of course 'the Ladies Will Lunch' (and dine too, given the opportunity). Last year we won an 'Awards for All' National Lottery bid and so members have been busy attending the National WI College at Denman as well as local colleges and tutors to learn new skills and develop new interests; playing the piano, learning to sing, genealogy, computing, jewellry making, drawing and much more. Armed with this improved and varied skills base we are well prepared to expand our range of activities over the next 12 months and beyond. Membership of Burridge and Park Gate WI will also give you access to a wide range of activities provided by Hampshire County Federation and National WI.
Our meeting in May will include discussion of this year's resolution which will be voted on at the AGM in Cardiff - "This meeting urges HM Governement to introduce clear and mandatory country of origin labelling on all meat, poultry and fish products sold in this country." - to aid our discussion please bring along any labels from products you have purchased recently. Also this will be the meeting when our horticultural cup is awarded, this year's competition is 'Three herbs in a pot.' They don't have to be totally homegrown so why not have a go!
Our full programme is available below. If you would like to speak to somebody before coming along to a meeting or event please make contact via the mail button below. No transport? We organise car-sharing to all events, just let us know that you require a lift.
