Burghclere and Newtown WI

Welcome

Founded in 1919 our membership is drawn mainly from the two adjacent villages in the title which lie on the North Hampshire border. We are also part of the North Downs Group.

Our members have been busy knitting children's jumpers, together with other ladies in the community, which are being sent to Zimbabwe. These have been very welcome by the children as it has been a particularly cold winter for them and, although the weather is now better, they still need the junpers in the mornings and evenings.

The skittles recommenced in September and the next fun game, with other members from the North Downs group, is on the 18th November.

Fresh flowers are placed by our members on the war memorial in Burghclere every week except for November when we take the opportunity to commemorate our War dead with poppies.

Our next meeting is our Annual General Meeting to be held on the 5th November (watch out, watch out - we don't want any fireworks about!) at 10.00 am in the Portal Hall, Burghclere.
