Within Bitterne W.I. we have 5 sub-groups and we think this makes for an exciting Institute as there is something for everyone all through each month! |
So, as well as our monthly meeting attended by most of our 58 members we walk (not too far – good pub at end), play darts (county champions 2006), knit and natter (scarves and picnic blankets for young people), skittles and lunch (no nine pins as yet – watch this space), crafts (decorations for W.I. special occasions) and Scrabble (too intellectual for this writer to comment!). |
With diverse speakers our monthly meetings are enjoyed by all, we go out and about three times a year and, recently every single member contributed in some way to raising £500 for the Radio Solent Daisy Appeal. |
We support ACWW and are running our Group of W.I.’s for the next two years. |
What’s more, we welcome guests so if you’d like to find out more about Bitterne W.I. come along to the St John Hall in Bitterne on the third Thursday of any month at 1.45.p.m. |
Where's Bitterne? Bitterne lies between the Rivers Itchen and Hamble and used to be a village on the eastern side of Southampton but now it's a suburb but a little of the old village survives and we enjoy it.
