STOP PRESS: FROM 17TH JUNE 2010 BITTERNE W.I. IS MOVING TO A LARGER HALL. Read on for more information. |
Within Bitterne W.I. we have 5 sub-groups and we think this makes for an exciting Institute as there is something for everyone all through each month! |
So, as well as our monthly meeting attended by most of our 60 members we walk (not too far – good pub at end), play darts (county champions 2006and 2007), knit and natter (scarves and picnic blankets for young people), skittles and lunch (no nine pins as yet – watch this space), crafts (decorations for W.I. special occasions) and Scrabble (too intellectual for this writer to comment!). |
With diverse speakers our monthly meetings are enjoyed by all, we go out and about three times a year and, in the last three years, every single member contributed in some way to raising £500 for the Radio Solent Daisy Appeal, £300 for ACWW and £150 for the Parkinson's Disease Society. |
We support ACWW and helped with the recent conference arrangements. |
What’s more, we welcome guests so if you’d like to find out more about Bitterne W.I. come along to the Wesley Hall, Whites Road,Bitterne on the third Thursday of any month for a 1.45.p.m. start. |
Where's Bitterne? Bitterne lies between the Rivers Itchen and Hamble and used to be a village on the eastern side of Southampton but now it's a suburb but a little of the old village survives and we enjoy it.
