Andover Afternoon WI was founded in July 1981, and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2006 with a special meeting and lunch held in Andover Guildhall. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in July 2011, again with a lunch and this time we had a magician to entertain us for the afternoon. This was followed by Birthday cake, complete with candles. |

The WI is a lively group of about 35 members. In 2011 members enjoyed a busy and interesting year, with informative speakers on a variety of subjects. The members have enjoyed several social meetings, usually involving food. They heard about the Kinder Transport from a lady who was on the last train from Prague. Thet learnt about Joseph Paxton and his early life, and are looking forward to hearing about the Crystal Palace later in the 2012. They enjoyed watching a demonstration of chocolate making and the tasting of the chocolate afterwards.Later in the year they heard about Fairtrade in India and Nepal, messages from Music, some lovely pictures of Tasmania and life as a Merchant seamon on the large cruise liners. In October a member masterminded a workshop to make Christmas Cards and Decorations. |
