About Our WI

January - December 2008
Welcome to the Gosport WI web page. We are an active group with around 43 members of various ages and a wide range of interests. We warmly welcome visitors and new members to both our meetings and other activities.
Regular monthly meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except August) 7.45 p.m. at the Methodist Church Hall, Stoke Road, Gosport. We invite a wide range of speakers throughout the year to inform and entertain us as well as holding demonstrations and the opportunity to participate in some new activities.
In addition to our monthly meetings we have a craft group, organise trips & visits, social We are always looking for new ideas from members and potential members to give us the widest appeal to local women.
We are part of the Haven Group and have links with 7 other WI's with contact to local, county and national venues and form part of the Hampshire Federation. Haven Group organises two group meetings and a Carol Service every year and arranges Group outings. Group meetings provide the opportunity to see speakers beyond the means of an individual WI group.
An opportunity to discuss matters of local and national importance and have your views put to the government, via the WI.
You will have the opportunity to attend County courses covering every imaginable subject, sport, hobby and craft.
A chance to win a Bursary for a course at Denman, the WI National College.

February 12th - Those Were The Days with Bill Chase & Bill Hedger. Competition: Childhood. Bring & Buy, Raffle & Refreshments.
March 11th - From Bean to Bar - History of Chocolate with Dawn Shrives. Competition: Chocolate. Raffle & Refreshments.
April 8th - Social Evening. Competition: Fun & Games. Bring & Buy Sale, Raffle & Refreshments.
May 13th - Fun with Flowers & Foliage with Rosina Brandham. Competition: Spring. Flower arrangements raffle at the end of the evening. Refreshments.
June 10th - Garden Party at Nicholson Gardens, Spring Garden Lane, Gosport with Gosport Silver Band. Commencing at 7.00 p.m. Competition: Silver and Best Hat Ticket Event.

July 8th - Helping with Dogs with Malcolm Wells MBE (Canine Partners). Competition: Faithful Friends. Bring & Buy sale,Raffle & Refreshments.
August 12th - No meeting.
September 9th - Safari with Paul Bowers. Competition Holidays. Bring & Buy Sale, Raffle and Refreshments.
October 14th - As Good As It Gets with Gwen Appleton. Competition Good Times, Raffle & Refreshements.
November 11th - Annual General Meeting and Social Evening. Competition: Having Fun. Bring & Buy Sale, Raffle & Refreshments.
December 9th - I Sing , You Sing, We Sing with Randy Vince. Competition: Pantamime. Ticket Event £1.50 each. Raffle & Refreshments.
Spring Haven Group Meeting 23rd April at 7 p.m. at Stubbington. Speaker Jenny Ryment, Totally Tucked Up.
Autumn Haven Group Meeting 16th October 2 p.m. at Holbrook. Ann Chance, Petticoat Pilot.
